Philosophy
At Thriving Roots, we believe children are capable, curious, whole human beings who learn through connection, experiences, wonder, and relationship with the world around them. Education is not a one-size-fits-all experience, but a journey that unfolds uniquely for each child. We believe in protecting childhood and the space for children to create, move, question, contribute, and develop at their own pace.
Our approach is an intentional fusion of Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia philosophies. Rather than limiting ourselves to a single method of teaching, we are rooted in what these approaches share:
- a deep respect for the child
- the importance of relationships and environment
- and the development of the child as a whole person
Above these components, we believe meaningful learning begins with authentic connection.
As educators, we are not simply supervisors or simply delivering curriculum. We are observers, guides, teachers, and stewards of the children, environments, relationships, and experiences entrusted to our care. Our role is not to get children through the day, but to intentionally create the conditions in which children can engage, discover, and thrive.
We cultivate capable children by surrounding them with capable, caring adults who model the very qualities that we seek to nurture in our students: curiosity, responsibility, resilience, respect, compassion, accountability, and lifelong growth.

At Thriving Roots, we intentionally draw from Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia to create our unique Pedagogy Trio™ approach. We bring together their shared respect for childhood while incorporating Montessori's emphasis on independence and purposeful learning, Waldorf's rhythm, imagination, nature, and creativity, and Reggio's focus on relationships, inquiry, and child-led exploration.
